Nuri is our Operations Manager. His love for hands-on productivity is shown in his craftmanship of the products that we send out to our customers. The very first contact a customer has with HD® Wool Apparel Insulation will have come through Nuri – whether it be from our website, a business card or a swatch, Nuri will have been ultimately involved in the initial customer experience. Nuri also works on getting our product(s) moved around the world to make sure we find the best way to get them where they need to be with the least environmental impact.
Nuri is quite humble with regards to his view of his very valued work. So, like Ali before him, others on the HD® Wool Team are happy to help do it for him!
What drew you to HD® Wool?
I started working with wool as soon as I left school, learning about its amazing dynamic agility right at the beginning of my career. I was dealing with greasy and scoured wool, that was with H. Dawson. Then when we decided to take the fibre on to the next level, and we started on an exciting new chapter… the creation of HD® Wool Apparel Insulation!
What is a work experience that you are most proud of?
I am very hands-on with my role, so I take great pride and pleasure in making up the samples that go out to customers. I am extremely proud with how we are moving the materials that I use to be sourced from sustainable if not renewable sources.
What are you excited about?
I am always curious about science and the oceans. I would have loved to have been a marine biologist… if ever I had a chance again that’s what I would love to do.
What is the first thing you wanted to do whenlock-down started lifting during COVID-19?
Meeting my friends for our first pint post lockdown.
What was the first concert you went to?
Red Hot Chili Peppers – I’m With You tour 2007 in Birmingham.
Where is your happy place?
Anywhere near the sea/ocean or waterside really. I love how our office is right next to the Leeds/Liverpool canal and river Aire.
What’s your favorite pastime?
Being out with the kids and showing them what I used to do as a kid. I am still a big kid. Getting out for a run, down by the canal especially!
Do you prefer coffee or tea?
Coffee. I love to make my own Turkish coffee on the bbq on a summer’s day after the meal, which is divine.
What’s the most stunning bike ride or road trip you’ve taken?
Driving our HD® Wool Apparel Insulation stand to Friedrichshafen, Germany. We passed so many beautiful locations along the way, but Friedrichshafen is amazing on the coast of lake Constance.
What’s the last book you’ve read?
Tom Cain – Assassin.
And finally, if you could make/or have anything made with HD® Wool Apparel Insulation, what would it be?
I am not very creative, but I love science - so I guess if we could incorporate it into a space suit or a diving suit, that would be really cool.
